Astoria, OR – Join the Astoria Parks & Recreation Department before the “big feast,” as it hosts its annual Thanksgiving Day 5k fun run/walk on Thursday, November 22, 2018. Registration is available the day of the race only, and starts at 8:00 am. The race begins at 9:00 am.
The race starts at the Columbia River Maritime Museum, 1792 Marine Drive, Astoria, and will head east toward Tongue Point. Registration is a $10 donation or 5 non-dented, non-expired canned good items to benefit the Clatsop Community Action food bank. The annual race is an all-inclusive event for participants of all ages and abilities, welcoming competitive athletes, casual runners, walkers, kids, strollers, as well as well-behaved, leashed dogs.
Prizes of freshly baked pumpkin pies will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. Costumes are highly encouraged. Pre and post-race treats and drinks will be available.
This fun run, along with the New Year’s Day Fun Run, also hosted by the department, is offered to the community by the fundraising efforts made by the Astoria Downtown Historic District Association’s annual Instant Gratification No Run Fun Run. The “Zero K,” as it is lovingly referred to, raised $4,000 for both runs, as well as for the Astoria Parks & Recreation Department’s Annual Valentine’s Day Ball.
