ASTORIA, OR, October 21, 2015 – The ordinance amending the Astoria City Code to prohibit tobacco and marijuana use in City of Astoria Parks will take effect October 21, 2015.
Prohibited smoking and tobacco products include, but are not limited to: cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, nicotine vaporizers, nicotine liquids, smokeless tobacco, and marijuana. The ordinance prohibits smoking, chewing, inhaling, exhaling, vaping, and any other ingestion or consumption of tobacco, tobacco products or marijuana.
New signage informing park visitors of the new ordinance is being posted in all City of Astoria Parks.
The mission of the Astoria Parks and Recreation Department is to provide life-long learning, wellness, and well-being through recreational opportunities and is dedicated to the preservation of natural resources, open spaces and facilities that inspire and bring neighbors together. Prohibiting smoking and tobacco use promotes this mission by promoting healthy outdoor recreation.
