AWARDS

Though Astoria 9-1-1 is considered a small Center, we have truly outstanding employees standing ready to answer the call of duty

A MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGER

HISTORY OF 911

Each year an estimated 240 million 9-1-1 calls are made in the United States. According to the FCC about one-third of these are wireless, or calls made from cell phones. In our area this trend is actually closer to two-thirds. Astoria 9-1-1 received nearly 13,000 9-1-1 calls in the year 2013. In addition to these emergency calls our Dispatchers also handled over 46,000 non-emergency calls for service!

Sign up for ClatsopALERTS!

ClatsopALERTS!, Clatsop County’s emergency notification system, is designed to provide local citizens with immediate information and warnings about storms, floods and tsunamis, water contamination alerts, missing persons reports, road closures and other events.

In the event of these or other scenarios, ClatsopALERTS! will send out recorded voice or text messages to citizens’ home phones, cell phones, pagers and email addresses, alerting them to the emergency and providing important response information. Messages can be sent out county-wide, or targeted to a specific, affected area.

If you have landline telephone service through a standard phone company such as Qwest or CenturyTel, your phone number is already automatically included in the ClatsopALERTS! database. If you would like to add additional contacts, including cell phone and pager numbers and email addresses, you must sign up through the online link below.
