CITY OF ASTORIA REPORTS COVID-19 CASE AMONG CITY STAFF

Tue, Aug 17, 2021

The City of Astoria is reporting a case of COVID-19 among city staff. The City Manager was notified that a staffperson from the Parks and Recreation Department’s childcare program has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Staff are working with guidance from the Clatsop County Public Health Department to notify individuals who appear to have had close contact with the individual.  As a preventative measure, the childcare facility will be closed and sanitized before reopening on September 1st.  This interval will provide sufficient time for any unvaccinated individuals who may have been exposed to fully quarantine.  While the facility is closed, staff will completely sanitize all surfaces, toys, and spaces using electrostatic sprayers and antiseptic wipes.

The City of Astoria continues to remain diligent with State of Oregon and CDC COVID-19 protocols and is following all recommendations of the Oregon Health Authority.  This announcement does not make any changes to operations to other City of Astoria buildings and facilities which are currently open and operating.

For more information on COVID-19, including symptoms of which you may want to be aware, please visit the Oregon Health Authority COVID-19 website or the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention COVID-19 website. Or contact the Clatsop County Public Health department.
