Jessamyn Grace West spent most of her 20s working as an Anthropologist in Ghana, Mexico City and central Turkey. Moving back to her hometown of Portland in 2003, she worked for Portland State University in the Department of International Affairs while getting certified to work with horses through the Northwest School of Animal Massage. With a strong desire to live closer to the ocean, Jessamyn moved to Astoria in 2005 and has been getting to know the area, its history and the community ever since.
In 2011 Jessamyn founded the Astoria Arts and Movement Center (AAMC), a non-profit dedicated to providing dance, performing arts and physical education classes. She is currently the Executive Director of the AAMC and co-owner of the downtown Odd Fellows Building which houses the AAMC studio in its historic ballroom where she also teaches classes. She continues to work with horses, has been a KMUN radio programmer for 9 years, has volunteered for numerous local organizations, and has served on various boards in Clatsop County. She loves Astoria and is honored to call this place home.
